I hit homepage today and get shoved (not asked) to Startlike's new "Save your bookmarks by Topic and share them on Startlike!"
They've removed or temporarily disabled the comments portion on the startpage - why are you changing, without warning, your site. Do u want to push people away?!?

I agree that this is a bad idea. I really only like the space channel. So if there becomes only one channel and its only outdoors, idk if that will include space shots, but I'll be leaving. I haven't been using startlike long but I liked the idea of being able to choose a channel about something you liked. It would be pretty annoying to go to your homepage and see something you disliked for a whole day or longer until it comes around to a picture you like...

As far as business goes, you have to do what you have to do, BUT... Understand that in business, we generally do MORE for our audience/customer, not LESS. What you are proposing to do detracts from your "service" instead of bringing more to your audience. You may not lose much interest; I don't know what the masses will do, but on day one of the switch... I will switch my homepage. I have enjoyed the golf scenes every day and will miss them if they go. Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

I'm also wondering where the free gifts are. I've used startlike as my homepage from the beginning and really like it. I've recommended it to a lot of friends--but I still expect that they're going to come through with the promised gifts for beta testers.

Regarding the outdoor channel: I think it's a great idea! Many of us have varied outdoor interests. Makes sense to combine them.

@Allison I've tried to find people in my area and the closest I've come up with was a half-day drive away. I don't have time or money to be traveling like that.

The problem I have is that Startlike isn't what it advertised itself as, hasn't considered any of my feedback, hasn't contacted me despite many attempts to contact them, and has not kept their promise about free gear. That's not why I signed up, but if I've already done all I can to help and my feedback it apparently not valued, I think I deserve what was promised.

Although I've gotten some good advice from Startlike and I've enjoyed the daily pictures the lack of communication past the first few months has been really discouraging. I've stuck with Startlike in hopes that something good would still come from being around, but I see now that my time has been wasted. @bluemoonranch. I've already met up with some fellow Startlikers a few time. We saw common interests and friended each other on FB and have been meeting up with each other ever since. We just took the initiative upon ourselves to meet up instead of waiting for someone else to connect us. Free gear or not, I have gotten more than expected out of Startlike just with the new friendships I have made!

Alison ... I belive her issue is shared by many, how have we experienced any social interactions with other outdoor enthusiasts? The problem that she referst to is the lack of a method for getting together with the other enthusists. I share this concern, and yep I am wanting the free stuff too, but am far more interested with the possible connections and friends that could result from the original idea.

So, you are abandoning your idea in place of something that is going to make you more money and more popular on Facebook, rather than follower user suggestions and make Startlike a better site! How lame! And, what about all the beta testers like myself? Where is the free gift we were promised? I've given more than my fair share of feedback and seen NO changes I've suggested, but have still stuck it out this entire time. I'm pissed!

I am glad to hear that something is being done and can understand scaling back to a single channel for startlike, but am still waiting on the social aspect to allow us to find others that are interested in outings near us... I'm in Ski mode, I want to see winter scenes not some spring scene of a creek in Virginia.

I chagne my designation from Skiing in the winter to outdoors in the summer...but without a consisten seasonal theme I will move.

I won't decide whether or not I like this until I've seen what the Outdoors channel has to offer. I love my daily dose of SCUBA! As for Big Prize Giveaways...what a great concept! You guys are definitely on the leading edge of the optimal use of internet technology and advertising. Congrats! Will Lifefitter still be sending SCUBA gear for review to active participants?

Regardless of where that bar is, a feature I feel would improve the google search would be auto-fill. I find myself going directly to google at times because I enjoy that feature; I would not even need to use google directly however if startlike used auto-fill. Just throwing it out there.
